One of our most beloved events is our annual Cosplay day. These have been so successful that we have received numerous requests to hold a second one during a colder period of the year. Not only does this make a somewhat more comfortable event, but this also provides an opportunity to show the more....blustery side of Hogwarts living and fashion =)

So don your house scarves, your herbology ear muffs, and your Quidditch gloves. Wrap yourself in your wool cloaks and striped arm warmers. Fill your flask with warm butterbeer and Firewhiskey (if your of age ;) and join us at our next magically photogenic location.

--

We have chosen Fort Tryon Park and the Cloisters to be the site of this Cosplay day. The park is a magnificent location with twisting paths and tons of trees. The Fort itself was used to defend both the Hudson and East river as parts of it overlook both. The Cloisters is a french monastery brought over to the US by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the 1800's. Its brick walls, steel portcullis and many arch ways will allow for some incredible scenes.

--

We do not have an official photographer lined up for this event yet. But as always feel free to bring your own cameras. The more the merrier. Also, if you have any ideas for motif's or posed shots (group, individuals, duo's, action shots, etc.) please feel free to post in the comments!

Our only policy with cameras is that we limit how many cameras are passed around for single shots. Because otherwise we could never move! =)

--

As always if you do not have a costume or do not want to costume, please come anyway, it will be a great time just hanging out and the park is truly beautiful.

Wish I had a full sized broom. I have a small one from Alivans but its small. Ive used it for photos but its not perfectly ideal.

Saribel, if you want rather short Gryffindor robes, email Ariel - she still has the ones we ordered, we're trying to get a bigger size.

And Betsy, why not wear Bellatrix on public transit? I was gonna, before I got a ride. And I assure you, I would have gotten many more strange looks!

Crap. Forgot to ask Liz if she can bring her makeup kit. I am pretty sure SOME prep is going to happen on site.

Okay. I haven't done one of these before! I'm planning to take the train from my apartment, and as much as I love getting into character, I'm not feeling going the whole crazy 9 yards and wearing my full Bellatrix costume on public transit. I'll bring the costume and change up there. But I have a question. Are any of you ladies (and gents, I suppose) planning on doing makeup and/or wig prep on-site? I just don't want to be the only hooligan spending extra time getting ready when we get there!

Technically it should be called the Spring Cosplay event as spring officially arrives on March 20, at 2:35.

It's gonna be downright WARM. Winter my you-know-what.

Oh! And could anyone spare me a set of Gryffindor robes?

If the weather keeps up like this, it'll be another summer cosplay! Which works for me, because all I'll have on is a form-fitting robe and breasts - not exactly winter gear!

yea, I try hard not to be possessive of Tonks but sometimes its hard with her for me lol, but I'm not doing her this time so feel free to Tonks on folks lol.

Gina if you do a Luna/Gaga you'd have to come pantless...and its too cold for that in my opinion. :P

    @Irvin: LOL!

I'll do Romilda Vane since I have my natural color hair at the moment. Hee!

Id like to edit Irvins statement to be: Our group doesnt get possessive of HP characters.
Bc hardcore cosplayers get possessive of their characters that they cosplay when a new one shows up. Trust me.

Possessive of me! People don't get possessive of cosplaying characters - we look to have 5 Bellatrixes running around at this cosplay day, and there have been at least half a dozen Tonkses throughout the year.

AND DO NOT CORRUPT MY LUNA WITH LADY GAGA!!!!

What do you mean? Possessive of you or possessive of COSplaying Luna?

After these comments, I'm feeling a Lady Gaga/Luna persona coming on, now.

Gina - it's both! Just beware of Staci and Emma, they tend to get a bit...possessive.

I was thinking that but not much is known except her black cat, which I have tons of stuffed ones. If someone can do some Slys like Pansy P. and Draco that would really work, otherwise I still come off looking as a non-famous Sly.

Mary, if you wanna do background Slytherins, what about Millicent Bulstrode? I don't think we've had one of those, and it wouldn't be very hard to pull off.

Gina R Snape, fair warning, I might do unspeakable things if you come dressed as Luna. Hope you don't mind. ;)

Gina R Snape, I'm in the same boat. I just have my Sly robes and winter gear. Not very creative I know. I want to think of a character but I'm at a loss. I'm looking for ideas or any background charries. HELP, please.

I am trying to decide whether to go as Draco or Luna or just my usual slytherin student (girl) costume. I have a blond wig from another costume, but it's not platinum blond. Oh, what to doooo. Also, anyone live in the LES who might want to ride up together?

Heather, that is awesome! We've only once had a Trelawney and it was at a party not a photo shoot.

I usually bring several costumes, different school uniforms and my Cornelius Fudge costume as well.

I am going as Trelawney. I shall be telling fortunes. They may or may not be accurate........depends on how much sherry I have consumed!!

It was a great location for photos and the weather was perfect, just not for a "winter" setting. We made the best of it though and had fun.
