Our friends from HP-MA have just announced that they will be hosting a convention in April of next year.
This will be a different kind of convention. Designed to be lighter on the wallet, while also trying to incorporate many aspect of the HP fandom.

To save time paraphrasing, I am going to paste in the letter from HP-MA founder Amanda Burke about what this con is all about:

Hello Everyone,

It is with great excitement that I announce to you Aeternitas 2011!

Aeternitas 2011 is a Harry Potter conference hosted by HP-MA. The event is a revamp of the post-poned Hogwarts Prom and it will be nothing short of wonderful.

The conference will be held from April 28, 2011 to May 1, 2011 at the Margate Resort in Laconia, NH

Four days of pure fandom magic await you at Aeternitas. Being held just months before the last Potter film is released, Aeternitas is a conference focused on the continued life of our fandom. Our theme for the weekend is magic is forever. We believe that the friendship and family found in our fandom is forever. This conference is meant to celebrate that.

Aeternitas is like past and present Harry Potter conferences in many ways. It follows the Thursday through Sunday schedule. It consists of formal academic programming during the day, and has evening events like wizard rock shows and a formal ball like other conferences.

However, you will find that Aeternitas also differs from the other conferences in many ways. Aeternitas will be a very small and intimate conference- a maximum of 475 attendees. By the end of the weekend we hope you will recognize the faces of all of the other attendees and feel a true sense of community.

The venue is another difference between Aeternitas and other conferences- unlike the chain hotels Harry Potter conferences are usually held at, the Margate Resort is a small, private hotel. If our conference sells out, we will be the only guests on site during Aeternitas.

Cost is one of the biggest differences between our conference and others. We have kept the registration price as low as possible. The low registration cost combined with the affordability of the hotel makes our conference a very economical choice. We hope to give a lot of amazing and memorable experiences for as little a cost as possible.

Aeternitas will offer a little something for every member of our fandom. There will be cosplay, programming, dancing, wizard rock, pool parties, and so much more. Please check out the website to see more of the things Aeternitas has to offer.

Any and all proceeds from this event will be donated to The Harry Potter Alliance.
